My view on the appointment of Budi Arie, the founder of PROJO, as Minister, and its implications on the current politics--published by The Jakarta Post (21/07). It may signal the President's intention to establish an independent stronghold that operates outside any formal and official political structure. Budi's appointment also adds pressure on PDI-P, pushing the party and its matriarch, Megawati, to reopen negotiations and bargaining with the ruling president.
